Syllabuses 2009-2010

ECDL and ICDL Syllabus Changes

Since the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) Foundation (1997) and International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) Foundation (1999) were created the course syllabuses from core to advanced have continually evolved to reflect the changes in modern technology and its uses in the workplace.  All ECDL Core, ICDL Core, ECDL Advanced and ICDL Advanced syllabuses were reviewed in 2007 in order to ensure that they reflected current technology advances and relevant practices; this resulted in the completion of the ECDL Core and ICDL Core syllabus (both syllabuses are identical) v5.0 and the ECDL Advanced and ICDL Advanced syllabus (both syllabuses are identical) v2.0, which will both be phased in during this year (2010).

Core ECDL and ICDL Modules Syllabus v5.0

The seven modules that make up the full ECDL Core and ICDL Core qualifications cover the international ECDL/ICDL syllabuses with the exception of Module 1 (previously called "Basic Concepts of Information Technology") which has been designed to meet UK standards. The new UK module is called "IT Security for Users". The updated "IT Security for Users" module reflects basic security issues that affect modern day computer users.  To make sure all syllabuses are covered we have supplied the "IT Security for Users" syllabus separately.  Additionally Module 2 has now been adapted in syllabus v5.0 from "Using the Computer and Managing Files" to "IT User Fundamentals", making the module more suitable for modern day IT use this module covers the same areas internationally.  For more information on the new v.5.0 syllabus, download the ECDL Core and ICDL Core syllabuses below:
