ICDL Exams Process

ICDL (International Computer Driving Licence) also known as ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) within Europe, certifications have various ability levels from beginner to intermediate. The ICDL portfolio is predominately completed using Microsoft Office products and modules can be tested either by online automated test software or manually marked by a trained professional. All testing methods require learners attend a authorised ICDL testing centre. Please note ICDL and ECDL exam and syllabus structures are identical.

 

ICDL Start Certification

To be eligible for the ICDL Start certification, learners must pass any four of the seven level 1 and 2 ICDL modules, Security for IT Users, IT User Fundamentals, Word-Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Presentations, Using Email and the Internet.

 

ICDL Certification

To be eligible for the full ICDL certification learners, must pass all seven level 1 and 2 ICDL modules, Security for IT Users, IT User Fundamentals, Word-Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Presentations, Using Email and the Internet.

 

ICDL Advanced Certification

To be eligible for the ICDL Advanced certification, learners must pass any one of the four Advanced ICDL modules, Advanced Word-Processing Advanced Spreadsheets, Advanced Databases and Advanced Presentations.

 

ICDL Expert Certification

The ICDL Expert certificate recognises a learner as a proficient computer user with a comprehensive knowledge and skill level in computer applications, and someone who has gained a degree of intuition in their use. To be eligible for the ICDL Expert certification, learners must pass all four of the Advanced ICDL modules, Advanced Word-Processing, Advanced Spreadsheets, Advanced Databases and Advanced Presentations.

 

Registering ICDL Candidates

ICDL learners can study for any ICDL qualifications for as long as they wish without registering but must register with an ICDL testing centre before taking their first exam. It is advisable that learners register at least 10-14 days prior to their desired exam date. The ICDL Start and ICDL Core examinations incur an initial one off registration payment (prices may vary). The ICDL Advanced examinations have know registration fee but examinations costs do vary, please contact your local ICDL testing centre for further information.
