The ECDL Advanced (European Computer Driving Licence) qualification is the next stage qualification after ECDL ("GCSE" equivalent within the UK). The ECDL Advanced provides potential employers evidence that the holder is a highly confident and competent individual, when using specific ICT (Information Communication Technology) applications. ECDL Advanced certifications are set to level 3 standards ("A-level" equivalent within the UK) and recognised in over 148 countries (known as ICDL Advanced, International Computer Driving Licence outside Europe). Many leading businesses and governments have set the ECDL (ECDL Advanced and ECDL Expert) syllabuses as a prerequisite in ICT competence for their employees.
ECDL Advanced Word-Processing (Word)
ECDL Advanced Word-Processing enables candidates to complete complex tasks in word-processing applications. ECDL Advanced syllabus tasks include, using sophisticated typographical, formatting and layout configurations, tables, forms, graphics, creating macros and advanced mail-merge operations. The ECDL Advanced Word-Processing qualification can be gained as an individually ECDL Advanced certificate or as part of the ECDL Expert (candidates who successfully gain four ECDL Advanced units can claim the ECDL Expert certificate for free).
ECDL Advanced Spreadsheets (Excel)
ECDL Advanced Spreadsheets enables candidates to complete complex tasks in spreadsheet applications. ECDL Advanced syllabus tasks include, using advanced formatting options such as conditional formatting and functions associated with logical, statistical, financial and mathematical operations, analysing and filtering data. The ECDL Advanced Spreadsheets qualification can be gained as an individually ECDL Advanced certificate or as part of the ECDL Expert.
ECDL Advanced Databases (Access)
ECDL Advanced Databases enables candidates to complete complex tasks in database applications. ECDL Advanced syllabus tasks include, creating relationships between tables, designing and using queries to create a table, using controls and sub-forms, creating reports to perform calculations and using macros. The ECDL Advanced Databases qualification can be gained as an individually ECDL Advanced certificate or as part of the ECDL Expert.
ECDL Advanced Presentations (PowerPoint)
ECDL Advanced Presentations enables candidates to complete complex tasks in presentation applications. ECDL Advanced syllabus tasks include, creating and modifying templates and format slide backgrounds, enhancing a presentation using built-in drawing and image tools, applying advanced chart formatting features, inserting movies and applying built-in animation features. The ECDL Advanced Presentations qualification can be gained as an individually ECDL Advanced certificate or as part of the ECDL Expert.
ITQ Advanced - Improving Productivity Using IT
In 2010 an additionally fifth unit ITQ Advanced Word-Processing (Improving Productivity Using IT) was assigned to the ECDL Advanced portfolio (UK residents only). The new ITQ Advanced unit allows candidates to demonstrate their practical application skills they have gained in the previous four ECDL Advanced units. The ITQ Advanced Improving Productivity Using IT unit is mapped to the ITQ (Information Technology Qualification) syllabus and consists of scenario and multiple-choice based assessments, covering word-processing, spreadsheets and presentations units.
